From the time Morgan Weistling was a child, there was never any doubt about his future. His parents met at art school, and he was drawing from the time he was two years old. Art was in his blood. Weistling began his professional art career at age 19 and became a much-sought-after movie poster illustrator.
One day, sitting in the church pew, Weistling heard something that made him rethink his purpose. Weistling said he felt like he had been wasting his time and the talent the Creator gave him. He says, “When they had an altar call, it was like a guttural response to ‘I need to give my life to God now, my art to God and let him use my talents.’ I responded to the altar call. I received Christ. It meant ... I’m surrendering.”
The very next day someone from Focus on the Family called. The ministry was looking for an illustrator. It was a new beginning filled with purpose.
Weistling began using his gift to illustrate for numerous faith-based companies. He also began painting images of Christ and the life of Christ. From there, his fine art pieces began featuring wholesome depictions of frontier life and families.
“I began combining my thoughts about faith, family, and God into these paintings,” he says. “Every painting I do, I pray God helps me.”
Through the years, Weistling became more familiar with the ministry of Focus on the Family.
