John,

As our pain at the pump continues, we’re still sending gasoline abroad. But there’s a simple solution to help lower high gas prices: Stop sending gasoline out of the country.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine and supply shocks in the wake of the pandemic shook oil and gas markets. And OPEC+, the international oil cartel, has lowered production to keep gas prices high. This means more money for oil and gas corporations — and more pain for consumers.

Food & Water Watch researchers dug through the data and found damning evidence of corporate greed.

Companies have been exporting historically high volumes of gasoline, squeezing domestic supply and sending unmanageable prices even higher. That's why Representative Rho Khanna introduced legislation to help consumers at the pump: the Gasoline Export Ban Act.

Let’s rein in gasoline exports. Tell Congress: Stand up to the oil industry and stop gasoline exports by supporting the Gasoline Export Ban Act!

Nearly all gas sold is produced in the United States. But instead of going to U.S. consumers first, it goes to the highest bidder — and right now, oil corporations can profit more by selling to other countries while driving up prices at home. It’s simple supply and demand. We’re currently exporting near-record levels of gasoline products and paying record-high prices at the pump.

And Big Oil is exploiting the high prices they’ve created to call for more drilling and fracking — which would only lock us into decades of more greenhouse gas pollution and accelerate climate change. That's the last thing we need.

Tell your members of Congress to halt gasoline exports!

In light of today’s gas prices, corporations have shown (yet again) that they can’t be trusted to keep customers' interests in mind. We need the Gas Export Ban Act to rein in Big Oil and lower the price of fuel.

Thanks for taking action.

Onward together,
