We must celebrate and honor Native communities
|
Team,
November is Native American Heritage Month, and it’s important we pause to honor and celebrate Arizona’s Native communities and people.
More than 12,000 years ago, Native and Indigenous people inhabited the land that would become Arizona and to this day, there are 22 federally recognized tribes, and many more Native communities throughout our state.
In fact, the two largest tribal lands in the U.S. are in Arizona. Their contributions to our state are numerous, and it’s important for us to recognize that throughout this month.
So while we celebrate the rich tradition, beautiful culture, and continuous contributions of Arizona’s Native communities this month, let’s also commit to continuing to treat these communities with dignity and respect throughout the year.
There’s still much progress to be made for Native people and communities in Arizona, and we commit to being a part of that progress.
Thank you to our Native communities for all they do for Arizona.
Sincerely,
AZ Dems
