UPDATE: Court Quashes Sweeping DOJ Subpoena on Eagle Forum of Alabama

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Last week, in a total rebuke of the Department of Justice, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama quashed a sweeping and unprecedented Department of Justice subpoena to Eagle Forum of Alabama. America First Legal (AFL) previously joined a coalition of organizations and elected officials on an amicus brief filed in support of Eagle Forum of Alabama in their fight for freedom of speech against child mutilation.

On October 26, AFL filed a FOIA request with DOJ requesting email communications from the attorneys who signed the subpoena, in order to find out who instructed them to file it. Specifically, AFL requested “All communications, including attachments, containing “Eagle Forum of Alabama” with any Department of Justice employee at main Justice.”

Statement from Gene Hamilton, America First Legal Vice-President and General Counsel:

The Biden DOJ’s subpoena, in this case, was nothing more or less than a naked act of politically-motivated intimidation against Americans lawfully exercising their rights. AFL is proud both to support the Eagle Forum of Alabama and to keep fighting to protect our Constitutional rights and the rule of law," said Gene Hamilton.
