John, I have some bad news:

Last night’s goal was the first we’ve missed this whole campaign, and it came at the most critical time: right as we need to fully fund our Get Out The Vote efforts.

To make matters worse, we just got breaking news that Scott Jensen and Matt Birk outraised our campaign again.

We have to respond. That’s why we’re re-opening our deadline and expanding our goal for the first (and only) time on this campaign.

I had the finance team dig into the numbers and we missed our goal by a little more than $8,000. We thought about closing the goal, until we saw how much our extremist opponents raised. 

This race is dangerously close – the last public poll shows Governor Walz and Lt. Governor Flanagan trailing Scott Jensen and Matt Birk. And before Republicans spent millions attacking our campaign, public polls consistently showed our race statistically tied.

There’s too much at stake this election to let our guard down at the most critical moment of the election. That’s why I had our team triple our goal, and I’m coming to you asking for your support right now.
