Legislative Highlights

North Carolina Receives Federal Funding for Electric School Buses

ImageThe Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which Congresswoman Manning helped to pass, is providing federal funding to schools across the country for electric school buses.

This will help boost American-made production of batteries and electric school buses, like those made by Thomas Built Buses, a leading manufacturer of electric school buses and major employer located in the Triad.

Supporting North Carolina Women and Girls

Last month, reports surfaced that Walmart pharmacies in North Carolina implemented an unlawful policy restricting access to Misoprostol, a medication commonly used to treat miscarriages. Congresswoman Manning sent a letter to Walmart's CEO demanding they immediately rescind this harmful and discriminatory policy.

Following Congresswoman Manning's advocacy, Walmart informed Congresswoman Manning that Walmart pharmacies in North Carolina are rescinding this policy.

Supporting Seniors of NC-06

A recent report shows that Congresswoman Manning's vote for the Inflation Reduction Act will support over 100,000 Triad seniors by lowering the cost of health care.

In addition to upcoming lower costs of health care, the Social Security Administration announced that beneficiaries will get an 8.7% COLA increase, delivering an average increase of $140/month.

This is life changing for the 70 million Americans who rely on this earned benefit.
In Congress, Rep. Manning will always fight against attempts to dismantle and weaken Social Security and work to protect our seniors.

Making Hearing Aids Accessible

Starting on October 18th, hearing aids are now available for over-the-counter purchase, no prescription needed for those with mild to moderate hearing loss.
This news from the Administration helps to lower costs for the millions of Americans who rely on this critical hearing device.

Health Care Coverage Expansion

The “family glitch” on the Affordable Care Act, which left many family members of employees on Marketplace plans without access to health care, is now fixed.  This powerful action will deliver affordable health care and lower costs for 1 MILLION Americans. Congresswoman Manning will always advocate for policies that bring down costs and expand access to affordable coverage.
