John,
Integrity is on the ballot this
year.
Can
Kenyan count on you to volunteer at Early Vote Centers and on Election
Day to let voters know what’s at stake in the DC Council At Large
race?
When Kenyan was elected to the DC Council in May
2012, those were some very tough times in our city’s political
history. Scandals and investigations of our local leaders dominated
media headlines, eroding voters’ trust in our city’s
leadership.
That’s why Kenyan authored some of
the most comprehensive campaign finance and ethics reform laws in DC’s
history. These laws paved the way for DC’s Fair Elections campaign
finance program, which was designed to give voters a larger, more
diverse pool of candidates from which to choose, and importantly, it's
funded mostly by your tax dollars.
But one of the candidates in the At
Large race broke the law and misused taxpayer dollars
from the Fair Elections Program to limit voters’ choice.
We can’t afford to move backwards
as a city. We must elect leaders that not only uphold our campaign
finance and ethics laws but have a track record of strengthening
them.
Help
our campaign staff voting locations so we can elect leaders like Kenyan who
truly embody our values of a more ethical, inclusive, representative
democracy.
Thank you for all of your help thus
far. We know that we can count you.
Sincerely,
Doctor “Doc” Roger A. Mitchell,
MD
Campaign Chair
