John, it's Trudy again. I know that I'm emailing you late, but there are just about two hours left before our FINAL end-of-month deadline before the election. And I just got a text from my finance director with bad news: We're still $1,381 short of our grassroots goal. Can I count on you to help me make up the gap before midnight? I know that I sound like a broken record at this point, but hitting this goal really is so important. There are just 8 days before the midterm elections, and right now, every dollar, every donation, and every grassroots donor counts.

It's not an exaggeration to say that this is the most critical fundraising moment of our campaign so far. If we hit this goal, we'll have the resources to keep our ads on the air, go door-to-door turning out the vote, put up our final yard signs, and reach the last undecided voters. But if we fall short, we're going to have to make some difficult budget cuts.

I know that Eric Schmitt and his far-right megadonors are going to be throwing everything they've got at us in these final days. We've got to do the same and more.
