As we enter the final week of early voting, I wanted to give you an update on where we stand. Last week, my team told you that Ohio was pacing ahead of the 2018 midterms by 74%. While we’re still pacing ahead, we’re losing momentum.
The latest numbers show us 45% ahead of the 2018 midterm, with more than 139,000 ballots cast early. But, John, major Democratic strongholds, like right here in OH-11’s Cuyahoga County, aren’t performing on par with the rest of the state. That could spell disaster for flipping Ohio blue and holding our Democratic majority in Congress this November.
My team has been knocking on doors throughout OH-11 and helping in critical districts across the state, but we need your help to pick up the pace to ensure Democrats come out on top in Ohio.
Let’s not forget why high voter turnout is so important this November, John. With a slim majority in both the House and Senate, and some of the most competitive races in the nation right here in the Buckeye State, losing Ohio could spell the end to all the progress Democrats have delivered. And, John, OH-11 is pivotal to flipping Ohio blue this November and holding our Democratic majority in Congress.
Under a GOP-controlled Congress, we’re sure to see a national abortion ban, attacks on emergency contraception, hand-outs and tax cuts for corporations, and hard-working Americans left in the dust. I won’t let that happen.
As a Cuyahoga County Council member and Chairwoman of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party, Shontel Brown has spent the last decade serving the people of Ohio and building coalitions. Now, as the Congresswoman for Ohio’s 11th District, she will fight for affordable quality health care, jobs that pay fair wages, a strong public education system, and equity and justice for all. Will you join her and be the change we need?
