Transgender Awareness Week Virtual Screening Opportunity: Mama Has a Mustache

Mama Has a Mustache is an award-winning, fully animated doc about gender and family, as seen through children’s eyes. The film explores how children experience a world outside of the traditional gender binary—and how we can learn from them as adults. Now, timed to Transgender Awareness Week, we're thrilled to make the 10-minute film available to watch at Mama Has a Mustache + PFLAG National from November 18-20.

Consider hosting an in-person screening or virtual watch party with family and friends and, as the film is intended to spark conversations around the bullying and mental health issues our non-binary/transgender community face, particularly youth, consider using the film discussion guide, accessible on the Mama Has a Mustache + PFLAG National webpage.

Then, on Thursday November 17th, join us on our social media channels for our weekly Something to Talk About Live! with the film's nonbinary Emmy-nominated director, Professor Sally Rubin, just before accessing the film the weekend of November 18th-20th.

We invite you to take advantage of this great opportunity to celebrate Transgender Awareness Week!

#PFLAGVotes: Voter Protection

The midterm elections are next week and disinformation about the election process is rampant. Bad actors are using disinformation to delegitimize certain methods of voting, sow distrust in election officials and infrastructure, and fan chaos and fear around voting. Voter protection is critical as we head into election day – and after election day as counts are conducted and results are certified.

Visit canivote.org to get up to speed on when, where, and how you can vote in this election. Also, be sure to check out our tools and resources to help protect our democracy by protecting our elections. Finally, having a plan to vote makes it more likely you'll make it to the polls, so make a plan to vote (if you haven't cast your ballot already) and be ready for Election Day on November 8th!

Something to Talk About...Live!

The Midterm Elections Are Next Tuesday!

Did you know that nearly half (48%) of LGBTQ+ voters say that they are more motivated to vote in the 2022 midterm elections than in the 2020 presidential elections? With so much at stake on Tuesday, November 8, now is the time to motivate and mobilize voters.

Join us this Thursday, November 3 at 4:30 PM ET / 1:30 PM PT for Something to Talk About Live where we will discuss “Here's What's at Stake for LGBTQ+ People in the Midterm Elections," by Jeremy Porr, which appeared on Thrillist. We're excited to welcome Patrick Cochran, Advocacy and Policy Engagement Senior Coordinator and Diego Sanchez, Director of Policy at PFLAG National to the conversation!

As always, you can find us on Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
