The national Republican Party has put the Oregon Senate on the shortlist of chambers it’s targeting to flip this year. Republicans in Washington, D.C. and their billionaire funders are spending millions here in Oregon. It’s more than we’ve ever seen.
When it comes to the Oregon Senate, let me tell you: As your Attorney General, it makes all the difference in the world who sits in that chamber.
The national Republican agenda is clear: ban abortion everywhere, erode trust in democracy and allow unlimited access to guns.
We cannot let outside forces determine our future.
I have devoted decades of practicing law, judging, and serving as your Attorney General to the Rule of Law. I never thought when I graduated from law school not long after Roe v. Wade was passed that we would end up here, fighting to preserve the fundamental right to have an abortion.
The Supreme Court’s decision has changed the playing field across the country — including here in Oregon. In order to keep up we need to: *
Remove
barriers
for
patients
seeking
care.

Support
doctors
and
facilities
providing
care.
*
Protect
individuals
who
receive,
support
and
provide
abortions
in
Oregon
from
both
civil
and
criminal
liability.
None of this can happen without a Democratic majority in the State Senate.
