It's time to fight back, John.
We stand on the shoulders of the freedom fighters before us to push back against the active threats dismantling the very foundation of our democracy. Millions of Black Americans are repressed within the democratic process, yet the candidates and the media see us as the “valuable” voting bloc that stands between them and the majority.
But we will only vote for the candidates that speak to issues that matter to us, and will vote out ones that don't.
When it matters the most, when the stakes are at their highest, YOU found a new level of strength to help push us to our goals. We are moving election by election, state to state utilizing our collective strength to create a thriving world for future Black generations.
It's no secret that Republicans are working against us — their attacks on our democracy are piling up. Now more than ever, we refuse to stand by as voter suppression runs rampant. Those in power are effectively stripping away critical aspects of our democracy. With the stakes being as high as they are this election, it's time to take action.
No one is coming to save the day. It's on us to continue to fight against legislation purposefully designed to prevent us from voting.
