Generation Progress

Nationwide support for organized labor is at its highest level since the 1960s as Gen Z is entering the workforce at a time of growing economic uncertainty.

My latest report from the Center for American Progress (featured in Teen Vogue!) finds that while support for labor organizing is strong across all generations today, Gen Z supports unions even more than Baby Boomers and Gen Xers did at their age.

Why is that? It may be that Gen Z sees unions as a way of achieving financial security and asserting their voices in the workplace. As more of us finish school and join the workforce, we hope to see organized labor solidify its place in America’s workforce for decades to come.

Check out Center for American Progress on TikTok to learn even more about Gen Z & unions.
