Right Side of History

Folks,

I know I’ve been flooding your inboxes lately, and I really appreciate all your engagement. Whether it's communicating with me through opinion surveys or pitching in to these campaign splits, you’re stepping up at a critical time. And I know many of you are doing even more work supporting races in your communities.

It’s important. This political moment is really damn important.

Races are tightening all across the country right now. It’s a complete toss-up as to whether a whole class of ultra-MAGA extremists will enter the U.S. Senate or we’ll expand our majority by electing some great Democrats.

We’re about a week away from the moment in which our country makes that decision, and folks I really can’t overstate the ramifications that choice will have on the future of our nation. When Dr. Oz said during the debate that he wanted to include “local political leaders” in a woman's reproductive decision, he wasn’t just making a political gaff. He was speaking on behalf of the potential future majority in Congress.

When far-right radicals like Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene incite their supporters with violent calls to action, not a single GOP member in good standing has the courage to speak out against them. And as a result, we’re seeing an increase in political violence all around the country. Look at what happened to Paul Pelosi. The lack of condemnation from many prominent GOP members is unconscionable.

These candidates and the elected officials who are supporting them represent a dark and growing extremist political movement in our country. In the past, we’ve dealt devastating blows to this type of politics at the ballot box. But this is the first time in recent history that we’ve let them actually have a chance at forming a majority in our Congress.

I’m deeply concerned. I know you are too, that’s why you’re reading this email. Now, tonight at 8 PM ET, I’m going to be going on Twitter live to talk more in depth about what I think is going on right now. Make sure you tune in here, and if you have any questions write them in the chat. I’ll try to get to as many as I can.

Appreciate your time, and I look forward to talking with you soon.

-Doug
