I’ll spare you more spooky puns and cut the bullshit—this is my toughest race ever and if national polling averages are correct, we could lose. There’s no time to waste (our end of month deadline is tonight at midnight), so let’s get to addressing some of the questions I’ve been getting:
What are the polls looking like? Here’s what I can tell you—there’s every indication that this race will be close. In our most recent statewide election, Democrats won this district by just a single point. This district is made up of an equal number of Democrats and Republicans. |
Is it too late to donate? Certainly not—only 15% of registered voters have voted so far, so we still have time to engage swing voters and show them that my opponent is a lawbreaking lobbyist who is too extreme for Orange County. We also are investing serious resources to turn out Democrats, and we have until Thursday of this week to reserve more TV ad time. |
What else can we do? Donating and door-knocking are two of the most useful things you can do right now, and we also have phone and text bank opportunities. Check out all of our volunteer opportunities–including canvass launches with me and people like Senator Padilla and Jane Fonda! |
Isn’t all hope lost? No no no! There is still a very clear path to victory. Top pundits are now predicting Democrats will lose the House by a dozen seats or so. That means Republicans could control the House by a matter of just a few seats—we can’t let that happen. If we hold onto just a few seats like mine, we can move our country forwards, not backwards. |
Consider pitching in before midnight tonight to show Republicans we’re not giving up. While GOP super PACs may be able to dump millions into misleading TV ads, we’ll win because of our strong grassroots support.

Thanks for being a part of the team. Just one week left!
Katie Porter
Katie is running for re-election in California’s 47th district, which includes Irvine and coastal Orange County. This purple district contains an equal number of Democrats and Republicans and is a must-win for Democrats. Consider pitching in today so we have the resources to keep Katie in Congress fighting for working people. |
