Hi John,

This Halloween, it’s not ghosts, witches or monsters I’m afraid of – it’s our nation’s broken child care system.

I’m scared for the kids who are locked out of early learning, losing their chance to get a head start in life.

For the preschool teachers who are shaping the next generation of leaders, but barely making a living wage.

For the parents deciding between financial security and their child’s future – a true nightmare.

If Congress underfunds early education and child care support in next year’s budget, millions of families will continue to struggle – mentally, emotionally and financially. [[link removed]]

We know the statistics, John: in the U.S., child care costs more than $10,000 on average PER KID!

It’s a steep price that countless caregivers just can’t pay. Some settle for lower-quality programs, constantly worried that their child isn’t in the safest hands. Others leave the workforce completely, surrendering much-needed income.

Whether you’re preparing for a night of trick-or-treating or cuddling up with some candy and a scary movie, I hope you’ll take a minute to send Congress this critical message: we MUST invest in child care before it’s too late. [[link removed]]
