As we near the final hours of 2019, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on everything the Center for American Progress has accomplished during the past 12 months. I’m proud to say that we partnered with advocates, policy experts, and elected officials across the country to advance the causes we all cherish.
What will we accomplish next year with your support? <[link removed]>
Our organization played an instrumental role in developing several landmark pieces of legislation passed by the U.S. House of Representatives in 2019. These include a major law to strengthen voting rights and our democratic institutions, as well as historic pieces of legislation to curb the epidemic of gun violence in America, to provide a pathway to citizenship for millions of Dreamers and people with Temporary Protected Status, and to protect the civil rights of LGBTQ Americans across nearly every segment of our society.
At the state and local levels, we helped lawmakers enact critical overtime protections for workers, and we lifted up the incredible example of climate leaders striving to put our entire nation on track toward achieving a 100 percent clean economy by 2050.
These are just a few examples of the impact we had in 2019, and I want to thank you for helping make our success possible. 2020 will be an important year, and I look forward to continuing our work together in fighting for the future of our nation. <[link removed]>
