Halloween is here, and no, I’m not letting the fact it falls on a Monday ruin the spooky vibe. If I could still get away with it, I would go trick or treating. Running around in costume collecting candy with my friends are some of my favorite childhood memories. Maybe you’re like me or maybe you’re happy to hand out candy to the eager trick or treaters who come to your doorstep. Dropping a piece of candy or two into each colorfully dressed child's bag can bring a smile to anyone’s face. We’ve spent weeks going over the horror stories of the election denying candidates who are running to be the top election administrators in their states. Candidates who don’t believe Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election, who don’t believe we should have access to mail-in or early voting, and who don’t believe every person should have the right to vote or the right to have an abortion. It’s up to us to stop ghouls like Kristina Karamo in Michigan, Mark Finchem in Arizona, and Jim Marchant in Nevada from taking office and dealing a disastrous blow to our democracy. I can’t promise that there will be candy waiting for you today. What I can promise is that casting your ballot and encouraging others to do the same is always the right thing to do. Happy Halloween and stay spooky! Sami Diaz |
