Dear John,
Welcome to the October edition of the #BadFaithMedicine Breakdown! Spooky season is here, and anti-abortion fake clinics are ready to give you a good scare.
It’s no secret that anti-abortion fake clinics receive tax payer dollars for their unethical, creepy schemes. It’s also no secret that some of these tax dollars are coming from funds meant to support families experiencing economic hardship. It’s also not a secret that anti-abortion fake clinics push coercive religious indoctrination and call it 'help.' Talk about skeletons in the closet!
Anti-abortion fake clinics are loud and clear that they don’t believe people can make their own health care decisions, and that paternalistic religious beliefs should dictate a complete stranger’s life. More and more people are coming to realize the true harm that comes from anti-abortion fake clinics, and rightfully so!
Earlier this month, New Orleans Public Radio released an article detailing the new Mississippi law called The Pregnancy Resource Act, which would give corporations a tax break when they donate to anti-abortion fake clinics. [1] The article excellently laid out the damage of government incentives promoting such biased and harmful groups, and went as far as to list the centers that have gotten donations and how much money has been funneled their way in the short time that this law has been enacted… over $550,000 to be exact! And in Ohio, nearly $14 million in tax payer funds have gone to anti-abortion fake clinics over the last decade, likely spreading harmful disinformation, much of it redirected from comprehensive health care providers. [2] Your tax payer dollars are going to fund the deception and manipulation that is peddled by anti-abortion fake clinics. Terrifying.

Blog: “Not Like Iran” and How We Must Learn from Iranian Feminist Movement-Building, by Shireen Shakouri
- “Graham is wrong about another thing, too: We should be like Iran. Not like the state, but the hundreds of thousands taking to the streets to demand an end to their oppression, led by women and even young girls still in primary school.”
