Welcome to your Plug in Newsletter, keeping you?regularly updated on electric and sustainable transport news taking place across Nottingham.
We?re so excited to announce the brand new rapid charging hub site on Trowell Road in Wollaton is coming close to completion! Construction of five 50kW rapid chargers and a solar canopy has also begun with all works scheduled to be completed and the site to be opened before Christmas.
The site is situated close to key road networks and local retail enabling EV owners to stop for a quick charge on their journey or while they do some shopping. ?
Much of the energy used to charge vehicles at the site will come directly from the sun with solar panels above the charging bays and an onsite battery storing energy, reducing the strain on the grid and increasing renewable energy generation in the city.? ??
Funded through the Department for Transport?s Transforming Cities Fund the site will become the latest addition to the expanding D2N2 charging network.?
The Workplace Parking Levy was the first of its kind in Europe to be introduced in 2012. The scheme has raised almost ?90 million, which has been re-invested into sustainable transport across the city. It has also allowed us to secure inward investment of over ?1 billion in transport, including ?570 million for the tram network, ?200 million for electric buses and ?60 million to transform Nottingham Station into a 21st century multi-modal interchange.
It?s helped set out a sustainable solution for transport in Nottingham to help improve where we live and work, improve air quality, successfully attract inward investment, and enable the growth of our economy.
Our sustainable transport approach has resulted in:
- A reduction in carbon emissions of 58%
- The reduction in air quality pollutants means a clean air zone is no longer needed
- Our 120 strong biogas fleet has seen a reduction of almost 8,000 tonnes of CO2
- Car free streets for 11 schools
- 38 electric buses with secured funding for a further 78 vehicles
- 9 park and rides sites across Nottinghamshire

E-scooters have now been in Nottingham for two years!
To mark the celebration, Superpedestrian held a safety event at Sneinton Market where members of the public were invited to take part. ScootFit, the scooter safety team, demonstrated how to ride e-scooters safely whilst navigating through Nottingham.?
Whether you want to improve your confidence around riding the e-scooters or just learn how to hire a vehicle, the team were there to answer the questions and even give out some free e-scooter credits and helmets to those who wanted to take part in the event.?
Each month, Superpedestrian hold events to improve the awareness of the trial. Keep posted on their social media channels, as well as ours, to see where they will be heading next.?
The milestone of two million rides was also hit over the anniversary week, demonstrating the popularity of the scheme.?
