It’s crunch time for this year’s midterm election, although, I’m sure you know that already, John.
I mean, how could you miss the dozens of political emails flooding your inbox right now? Most of them asking you to support some group you’ve never heard of or a candidate whose emails you don’t quite remember signing up for.
Trust me, I know how overwhelming it can be to field so many requests for your time and resources. I’m going through it myself! Every email I get, I find myself questioning what they want to use my money for — and whether my donation will even make any difference at all.
How is one more television ad helping the rest of us, anyway? There are already hundreds of millions being spent on the airwaves — and don’t we all just tune out the commercial breaks or change the channel by now?
John, if you want to cut through the noise this election season and make a real, measurable impact on hundreds of voters, here’s how: sponsoring an Election Protection volunteer.
As I write you, our friendly, pro-voter volunteers are already hard at work, helping voters overcome new, confusing voting restrictions and any other attempt to take away their rights. They’re ordinary folks just like you and me, but they’ve volunteered their time to make a measurable —and major — difference for their communities.
Our mission: Ensure EVERY vote is counted and the millions of people who voted for the first time in 2020 participate again this year… and in every election to come.
Even now, that means increasing the number of volunteers we’re fielding through Election Day and beyond so we can help even more voters. But with just 8 days to go, we need your action so we can place every single volunteer who steps up and make the biggest impact possible.
People headed to the polls are up against a lot of challenges this year — like new voter suppression laws that mean the voting method they used in 2020 might not be an option this year. That’s what makes our work so important. Our volunteers are trained by experts in each state’s voting rules — for all 50 states and D.C. — which makes them the best response possible to the blatant attacks on voters' rights we’ve seen out of states like Texas and Georgia in the past year.
Common Cause is on a mission to support as many voters as possible this election season. We have the volunteers — thousands of people have signed up, more than we expected. We just need the resources to train them, but time is quickly running out to make a positive impact on voters this year.
There’s just ONE WEEK until Election Day, and we need your help to train and place every Election Protection Volunteer that signed up. It costs $50 to sponsor the costs for one volunteer — so will you will you rush your contribution today to make sure every vote counts
Thank you for making an impact,
Sylvia Albert, Director of Voting and Elections
