This isn’t an email I wanted to send on a Sunday evening, but we’re running out of time, and this can’t wait.

I just got an update from Mark, my campaign finance director, and with about 24 hours to go to our last end-of-month deadline of the election tomorrow, we’re still more than $20,000 short of our goal.

I don’t want to scare you, but I have to be blunt: We are dangerously behind right now, and our window of opportunity to get back on track is closing rapidly. 

If we come up short tomorrow, we’ll have no choice but to scale back our Get Out The Vote program. And we cannot afford to give my Republican opponent Jim Schultz an advantage in the final week of this race.

John, this is a make-or-break moment, and I’m counting on you. Can you chip in to help us make up the difference by 11:59 pm tomorrow? Anything that works for you tonight helps!

I had the closest statewide race in Minnesota in 2018, and we have an even tougher fight ahead of us this year against an anti-choice hedge-fund lawyer with zero courtroom experience. 

A recent poll from The Trafalgar Group has me down four points against Schultz, and POLITICO is calling me "Minnesota's Most Vulnerable Progressive."

On top of everything, another nearly half a million dollars of right-wing money is pouring into Minnesota to blanket the state with even more attack ads against me – and we were already getting outspent many times over again on TV alone.

John, it’s going to take an unprecedented effort over the next week to overcome the all-out assault national Republicans are targeting me with right now.
