While Congress was out of session this month, my Washington, D.C. staff visited Florida's First District. This was a great opportunity for my staff to further understand Florida's military mission and the priorities of my Northwest Florida constituents.

AROUND THE DISTRICT

STAFF VISITS EGLIN AFB

On October 18th, my staff and I had the honor of visiting Eglin Air Force Base. As we started our tour, Colonel Augustine gave us a warm welcome and an introduction to the base’s capabilities and missions. Our day was filled with a variety of events, including a tour of the Joint Test & Training Operations Control Center (JTTOCC), a presentation by Colonel Arthaud on the 33rd Fighter Wing’s facility, a walkthrough of the Intrepid Spirit Center TBI Clinic by Colonel Coleman, a visit to the McKinley Climatic Lab, and a presentation by Colonel Meeks on the missions of the Air Force Research Laboratory.

This trip was a chance to expose my team to the assets and missions present within Florida’s First Congressional District. 

STAFF VISITS NAS PENSACOLA

On October 21st, my team and I toured another essential installation in Florida’s First District. This time, we visited NAS Pensacola, where we had the opportunity to tour and get briefed on the U.S. Coast Guard missions in the Gulf of Mexico. We also had the privilege of obtaining this brief from the bridge of the USCGC DECISIVE. 

Additionally, we toured the USCG Small Boat Station and enjoyed riding in a Defender-class boat on Pensacola Bay. 

I want to thank the Installation Commander, Captain Terrence “Village” Shashaty, for showing my staff and I around the installation and briefing us on the missions at NAS Pensacola.
