“I’m sorry, but we just can’t help.”

Dear Friend,

As 2019 reaches its end, just a quick note to once more say thank you for your support this past year. I'm asking one final time for your help in pushing us past our end-of-year goal. We’re 95% of the way there! Your gift can make all the difference—donate before midnight tomorrow, 12/31, to help us reach even more LGBTQ and HIV-positive immigrants in need.

Your generosity could mean the difference between us representing more asylum seekers, detained immigrants, and LGBTQ families looking to live freely and safely, or being forced to tell them, “I’m sorry, but we just can’t help.” All donations directly support advocacy, direct legal representation, and our new hotline that any detained refugee can call free-of-charge.

Remember, your gift today will go twice as far, as all donations before midnight tomorrow will be matched up to $20,000. ([link removed])

I wish you a happy and healthy New Year and am grateful to have you by our side as 2020 will be a challenging year. My resolution is to keep fighting until equality is achieved for all.

Respectfully Yours,
Aaron C. Morris

Dear Immigration Equality Supporter,

As the year comes to an end and we reflect on what’s important, I am struck by the 1,200+ clients Immigration Equality has won victories for over the past 25 years and the meaningful lives they have built now that they are free from persecution. Many have become powerful advocates and voices in our community. People like Denis, who testified about the inadequate HIV care he received in detention, and Sandy, who we honored in October at SHINE for her activism on behalf of the trans community. While they each have a different journey to share, they all have one thing in common: they came to Immigration Equality because they knew we could help. Because of your support, we were there to fight for them.
Donate today and double your gift! ([link removed])
As I look ahead to 2020, my hope is that you will help us expand our services so that we can help every LGBTQ and HIV-positive immigrant who needs us. The fact is, a large portion of our budget is raised in the last few weeks of December, which is why your gift really makes a difference in what we can accomplish next year. While our current case load stands at over 600, I know there are many, many more we could be serving. Our new toll-free detention hotline that we opened this summer is proof of that. To date, we have already received over 1,200 phone calls from detained refugees who often have nowhere else to turn.

I realize this email is likely just one of hundreds currently filling your inbox, but I’m hoping Immigration Equality still makes your list of charitable donations. We're 75% of the way to our fundraising goal for 2019—all we need now is you. Make a gift of $100 or more and your gift will be doubled to $200 to make even more of an impact! ([link removed])
I have no doubt that 2020 will be a challenging year as our remarkable legal team continues to fight against oppression, inequality, and government abuses so that LGBTQ and HIV-positive immigrants can shine their inner light and live life to the fullest. Together, we can support and protect LGBTQ people from around the world. Please give a gift today!
Thank you,
Aaron C. Morris
