The November 8 General Election is less than two weeks away! In Wisconsin, we have races for state legislature, the governor, the attorney general, the secretary of state, and the United States Senate. There is so much on the line this election cycle, and we want to make sure voters are as prepared as possible to make an informed decision.

The first thing you should know is that you have options. Wisconsin voters can go to the polls to register (if you need to – just bring proof of residence) and vote in person, either during the early voting period or on Election Day. You will need your ID to vote. Find your polling place, learn who's on your ballot, and more at myvote.wi.gov.

If you don't want to leave your home, you can vote by mail – but don't wait to request and return your absentee ballot. Your clerk must receive your ballot by 8 p.m. on Election Day. That means you need to act quickly so the clerk can mail the ballot to you and you can return it – the US Postal Service recommends putting your ballot in the mail no later than seven days prior to ensure your ballot arrives on time. If you haven't returned it by then, you can still hand deliver it to your polling place (unless your community uses central count, in which case you have to deliver it to the central count location) or your clerk's office before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8. A witness must watch you complete the ballot, you and your witness must sign the envelope, and your witness must write their full address on it.
