While a lot has been done to mitigate flood risks, there is still more we can do to prepare homeowners for future storms in order to prevent the devastation we saw a decade ago. "There's nothing like being prepared. FEMA is out there trying to get these preparedness programs to get homeowners ready - whether that's installing a generator for if you lose power, raising your homes, or other mitigation efforts - so if there is another storm like Sandy we don't have the devastation we had 10 years ago," Andrew told 1010WINS during a discussion of the anniversary. ANDREW IN THE NEWS Cybersecurity would be top priority if House GOP wins midterm elections, lawmaker says " 'Cybersecurity is national security,' Garbarino told the Washington Examiner. 'The current threat landscape requires a posture of vigilance which is why we must secure our cyber borders just as we must secure our physical borders.' Both parties in Congress have worked together to build up the capabilities of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, added Garbarino, the ranking Republican on the cybersecurity subcommittee of the House Homeland Security Committee. However, Republicans may focus more on oversight and on 'ensuring that CISA has the structure in place to execute its responsibilities effectively and in the manner in which Congress intended,' he said. In addition, Republicans will focus on cybersecurity workforce development and on filling the estimated 700,000 open cybersecurity jobs in the United States, he added. They will also explore new layers of protection, such as federal cyberattack insurance coverage, modeled after the 2002 Terrorism Risk Insurance Act, he said. " Click Here To Read The Full Article. KEEPING UP WITH CONGRESS Andrew Condemns NY Proposal To Ban The Sale of Gas Powered Cars Governor Kathy Hochul recently ordered the state Department of Environmental Conservation to issue regulations banning the sale of gas-powered cars, pickups and SUVs by 2035. This week, Andrew alongside his fellow New York Republican Members of Congress condemned the move in a letter to Hochul and urged her to abandon the plan which denies New Yorkers the basic choice of what car to drive. The Members wrote, "Your plan to require an all-Electric Vehicle (EV) fleet will further raise prices on vehicles that New Yorkers already cannot afford, inhibit rural communities’ ability to thrive, and wreak further havoc on the already struggling power grid in New York...Forcing New Yorkers to purchase electric vehicles will only serve to add undue burdens that they cannot bear." Andrew Urges Congress To Act On Fentanyl Crisis Andrew recently sent a letter to the leadership of the House and Senate House Armed Services Committee urging the consideration of H.R. 8316, a bill that he co-led with Rep.
