Hi John,

[Note: my FEC deadline is tomorrow at midnight — please rush a donation here right now.]

Did you see the news?

The same article says that, “In the U.S., the richest 0.1% control a bigger share of the pie than at any time since 1929.”

It then ends with a list of “winners,” people who managed to end the year with the most obscene concentration of wealth possible.

Not listed: the “losers,” people who:

  • Die on the streets because they can’t afford a home.

  • Die waiting in line for drug treatment.

  • Die of racial profiling.

  • Die of poverty.

When we have levels of wealth inequality not seen since the Great Depression, when billionaires are able to buy (or attempt to buy) the presidency, when billionaires feast while cutting their workers’ wages and busting unions…

Then something is really wrong with our economy.

Nobody ever asks “How will you pay for it?” when Republicans pass tax cuts or when Democrats cave and vote for Trump’s immoral war budget.

Corporate politicians only ask that when we want to use public money for the public good: healthcare, housing, jobs, education, and a clean environment for all.

They don’t WANT us to ask how they’ll pay for their bloated, corporate giveaways. And they also don’t want us to ask how they pay for their campaigns.

Here’s how they pay for their campaigns: wine-cave fundraisers and expensive golf trips. Here’s what that gets YOU: sold-out politicians who fight for their donors, not you.

I do things the new, winning way: the majority of my funding is from small-dollar, grassroots donors. That means that when I’m in Congress, I’ll answer to YOU, not billionaire donors trying to kill Medicare for All.

But it means I need your help right now as I come up on my FEC filing deadline tomorrow at midnight.

We need to raise $500 today to hit our goal, so we can hire a Field Director in January.

Donate here before our deadline tomorrow:

Any amount helps!

Thank you,

-Rebecca
