Team -- we’re disappointed but not surprised to see this news coming out of Ohio:
Ohio's conservative leaders put constitutional limitations on partisan gerrymandering on the ballot in 2018, and voters approved it by a nearly 3-to-1 majority. However, these same legislators now claim that the statute they authored is unconstitutional in an attempt to delay redraws of a fair congressional map.
Team -- let’s be clear: Map manipulators in Ohio do not want any obligation or accountability for complying with this regulation if it reduces their power.
So, where do we come in?
The Ohio Supreme Court ruled in July that the state’s congressional map was a partisan gerrymander. This is a result of a lawsuit filed by Ohio voters supported by the National Redistricting Action Fund, which All On The Line is a project of. As you know we have been advocating for fair maps since the redistricting process began last summer and we are committed to seeing this fight through. Ohio’s conservative leaders have now appealed this case to the U.S. Supreme Court and we will continue to fight to protect the fair map process in Ohio no matter the battleground.
All On The Line has worked for fair redistricting in Ohio and across the country. When we advocated for justice and pushed for fair maps in the courts in Ohio, conservative extremists fought back to deny Ohioans the opportunity for fair representation. Now, we need you to step up today to protect our progress, in and out of court.

Why is this case significant, you ask?
If the U.S. Supreme Court agrees to take this case and then later issues a decision in favor of Ohio legislators, it could undermine Ohio voters’ clearly expressed desire for a fair map process and would further subvert the rule of law as recognized by the Ohio Supreme Court. Such a decision would reward right-wing map manipulators who have blatantly disregarded their constitutional obligation to abide by the anti-gerrymandering requirements when drawing a congressional map.
They can try to delay progress and avoid accountability, but we will continue to push back and vigorously defend voters’ rights in Ohio and across the country.
