When I entered the Naval Academy at 17, I was one of very few young women there. I was alienated and underestimated all the time.

My parents always supported my interests, even if they weren’t typical for girls at the time, so the Naval Academy was quite a culture shock.

So when I took office back in 2018, I knew I had an opportunity to show all of the young girls watching – my daughter included – that you can love the “girly stuff” and be just as tough and respected as anyone else.

And it’s my responsibility to make sure that those young girls have bright futures ahead, by ensuring that they enjoy the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as I did.

But a new poll shows I’m tied with my GOP opponent Jen Kiggans, a right-wing radical who’s dedicated her career to stealing those freedoms away.

I want to continue doing this crucial work, but I’m in the most competitive race in the nation, and we’re falling behind on our final end-of-month goal.
