I'll be real with you John. If Republicans win this year, their ability to ignore voters will be turbo-charged. It won’t just be gerrymandering and voter suppression – although there will be plenty of that. They’ll take it one step further, by screaming fraud about every outcome they don’t like and even trying (perhaps even succeeding?) to overturn legitimate election results.
But it’s not all bad news, because we’ve proven we can stop them. The efforts of the fair maps community – including you, John – has led to significantly more balanced maps. The New York Times even reported that the 2022 congressional map is the fairest we’ve seen in 40 years! Now we just have to apply our successful redistricting strategy to the broader fight of saving our democracy. Thanks to supporters like you, we’ve been able to endorse nearly 500 Democracy Defenders nationwide. But I probably don’t have to tell you that the last few days of an election are the most important. And whether we hit our last end-of-month goal on Monday will determine what we can do in those last few days.
