Africa & Europe
Praise God for a conviction in a case of sexual violence against a child. IJM Uganda supported a father in his fight for justice on behalf of his 16-year-old daughter after she was sexually assaulted by her own grandfather. The father of the survivor sighed with relief upon hearing the verdict. The perpetrator of the crime has been sentenced to 20 years in prison. Pray that media coverage of this case would send a strong message that the law will be used to hold perpetrators of sexual violence accountable.
Latin America
Please pray for IJM Guatemala as we collaborate with stakeholders to build a Protection Network in Quetzaltenango, one of the country's departments with the highest rates of violence against women and children. Pray that our first round to identify, inform and motivate partners will be fruitful, and that more people in this community would be empowered to identify cases of violence and accompany survivors in their journey within the public justice system.
South Asia
Praise God for brave survivor leaders who raise their voices to protect other people. Last week, a woman named Kuppammal spoke at a government conference on small business development. She and her family were enslaved at a rice mill for 10 years—where one of her children tragically died—but today she helps run a beautiful block-printing business. Her speech on the importance of dignified work for survivors inspired these officials and will lead to more opportunities for her community. Pray her words take root and lead to bigger and better things!
Asia Pacific
Praise God for a partnership between IJM’s Program Against Online Sexual Exploitation of Children and social media giant, Meta! Meta, in partnership with IJM and other nonprofits, pioneered a new immersive virtual and augmented reality experience that takes users inside the world of people experiencing sex trafficking. Using Meta’s state-of-the-art AR and VR technology, the global campaign reached 1.2 million viewers in the first 24 hours and 10 million views since it was released. Pray that this campaign will continue to shed light on the dark world of sex trafficking.
