Hi Friend,

As 2019 is coming to a close, I want to take the opportunity to wish you and your loved ones all the best for the coming year.

For ICAN, 2020 is going to be a huge year. As the world will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August, we will make our utmost to honor the victims of nuclear weapons by ensuring that nuclear weapons become illegal in 2020. And we are going to need all the help we can get to take this step towards a world free of nuclear weapons.

Did you know that one of the most impactful actions you can take to make this happen is to start a recurring donation?

Because while we are confident that we can get the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons to enter into force in not a too-distant future, our work will not stop there. We need to keep going until every single nuclear weapon is eliminated.

At a time when governments are decreasing funding for civil society and the richest, most powerful countries are trying to stop us, ICAN relies on committed individuals like you to step up and help us challenge the nuclear-armed states.

Progress on this issue will depend on committed and engaged civil society organisations around the world. When a nuclear weapons free world is realized, it will be because of consistent work by organisations that remain dedicated to the issue for many more years - also when the media spotlight moves away to other issues .

A monthly gift provides the stability ICAN depend on to continue changing norms, laws and public opinion.

Any donation is always very useful for our work, it helps us start a specific project or activity. But with a monthly donation, you can help us do what’s going to make nuclear disarmament happen - provide more stable and predictable funding that will help us engage in long-term strategies to steadily increasing pressure on all nuclear armed and nuclear endorsing states.

When you commit a monthly donation to ICAN, you will support our network of thousands of campaigners around the world that are rising up to fight the policies and decisions that people like Trump, Putin, Kim Jong-Un, Modi, Netanyahu, and others are making.

As we're heading into a very crucial year for the campaign, I'd like to thank you for your continued support for a world without nuclear weapons.

With best wishes for the new year,

Beatrice
