Since this country's founding, Black people have been forced to grapple with the legacies of slavery. A part of that?
Election hurdles.
First, when Black people were granted the right to vote via the 15th amendment, it didn't stop the literacy tests, poll taxes, interrogation at the polls, and countless other barriers to the voting booth.
Then, they tried to convince us that our votes didn't count, a weak attempt that we're all tired of…spreading misinformation and thinking you can get away with it. (Ask Donald Trump what happens when you try that.) We galvanized our communities, banned together as one, and now, our vote is one of the most powerful advantages we have as Black people.
Now, it is 2022, and we're still seeing white supremacy utilize legislation that purposely disenfranchises Black voters – discouraging and preventing us from participating in democracy
and we are the ones that have the power to elect the people who will push us toward Black liberation.
Just in Georgia alone we're having record-breaking voter turnout.
We can continue to show up and go even wider if we raise enough money ahead of the midterm elections. John, can you help us mobilize Black voters by chipping in toward our end-of-month fundraiser?

John, it was people-power and grassroots support in past elections that we were able to increase Black voter turnout by 50,000 people in 2020 - including first-time voters. Plus, that same year, we helped oversee a 112% increase in turnout by Black voters over 60 before election day.
White supremacy has tried us many times -- and it'll continue trying us. But we're here to fight back...with your help.
Now is the time to pool our resources. Now is the time to elect leaders up and down the ballot and all across the country that are dedicated to Black liberation and Black futures. Donate now to make sure we're ready for this November. If you're able, take it a step further and become a recurring donor >>
