Today, we’re celebrating Summer Lee from Pittsburgh, PA!

In 2018, Summer Lee challenged a 20-year incumbent to represent her community in the Pennsylvania State House – and she won. Since then, Lee has been a passionate advocate for police accountability and justice reform, as well as environmental justice and curbing pollution in her city.

Now, Lee is continuing her fight for progressive change by running for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 12th District. Her priorities include expanding the right to vote, passing the Green New Deal, and protecting workers’ rights to unionize.

Summer Lee is also the co-founder of UNITE, a member-driven grassroots organization dedicated to building progressive electoral power up and down the ballot. UNITE has helped elect slates of Democratic candidates including Pittsburgh’s first Black mayor, Ed Gainey.
