At Ruth’s List, our mission is to build the bench of Democratic women in office, and that starts at the local level.
With Election Day less than two weeks away, we’re highlighting our endorsed candidates in highly competitive local races. These women are local leaders who have worked tirelessly for their communities. Three of them are first-time candidates, and two of them would make history as the first Haitian woman and first Black woman to serve on their respective county commissions.
Electing these women is not only important for their local communities, but also for building a deep bench of women who will rise through the ranks of Florida politics.
Down-ballot candidates are the governors and congresswomen of tomorrow. And new research around reverse coattails shows that local candidates can excite voters on local issues and drive up Democratic turnout for every race on the ballot.
