john —
I wanted to share this headline I ran across yesterday:
Shell announces $4 billion share buyback as profits double
- CNN Business, 10/27/2022
Shell just announced a huge windfall in profits over this past quarter, double what they made in the same quarter of last year. Exxon just posted their highest quarterly profits in history.
In that time, gas prices in Minnesota rose almost 50 cents per gallon. While gas prices have started to decrease, it’s clear that the American people are rightly concerned about rising inflation, and Big Oil and greedy billion-dollar corporations are a big part of the problem.
Instead of investing in anything that could help lower out-of-control gas prices, Big Oil is doubling down to pay their shareholders and increase their dividends.
Fossil-fuel company greed is fueling the inflation crisis and the climate crisis simultaneously.
We must take action, and with midterm elections just 11 days away, thankfully we still can.
Together, we can work to elect politicians who understand the dire need to reign in corporate greed, who believe in climate change, and who will protect our planet and the economy for future generations.
But it takes resources to go up against Big Oil and their dark money machine. They’re working overtime to elect Trump Republicans who falsely claim climate change is a hoax.
So with just a few days left before our critical end-of-month fundraising deadline, can you chip in to help get out the vote for climate champions up and down the ballot in Minnesota and beyond? [[link removed]]
