Dear John:

Democrats have no plan to clean up the messes they've made. We all knew the wasteful spending in Washington would spur inflation. Yet, after more than a year, Democrats still haven't offered a real way to correct the devastation they’ve caused to our economy. Instead, they insist on continuing to push their tax-and-spend legislation, waging war on American energy, and allowing our supply chain to remain broken. As a result, families across the country are struggling to feed their families and heat their homes, gas prices are surging, we've had to increase dependence on China, and we have become less competitive on the world stage.

Americans can't afford Democrats' policies, but we are certainly paying for them. Republicans have a plan to get this country back on track:

1. Fight inflation and lower the cost of living

Government spending has increased by over $9 trillion since February 2021, raising the price of groceries, gas, cars, and housing. Year-over-year food prices are edging up to 13.5%, the largest one-year increase since the Carter administration. This administration tried to tell the country inflation would be "transitory" and so they did not act, and now the American people are paying for that inaction.

Republicans have a plan to curb wasteful government spending, increase take-home pay, create good-paying jobs, and bring stability to the economy through pro-growth tax and deregulatory policies.

2. Make America energy independent and reduce gas prices

America was the largest energy producer in the world until the Biden Administration and one-party rule under Democrat leadership. They halted energy projects, shut down pipeline construction, and took every step to discourage any production of energy resources at home. Now, electricity prices are up 20% from the day Biden took office. Americans should not have to choose between driving to work and putting food on the table, but across Minnesota's 7th District and the country, that is going to be the reality for a lot of people this winter.

We need to maximize production of reliable, American-made energy and cut the permitting process time in half to reduce reliance on foreign countries and lower energy costs.

3. Strengthen the supply chain and end dependence on China

The Biden Administration knew last year that a nationwide shortage of baby formula could happen, but failed to prevent it. Instead, Democrats in Washington prioritized their spending sprees and tax scams. Now, nearly 80% of small businesses said supply chain issues are actually getting worse, leading things like fertilizer to increase in price by 80% since last year.

I won't stand for it. We need to expand U.S. manufacturing, move supply chains away from China, and enhance our economic competitiveness.

Thank you for reading!

As always, my office is open and ready to serve constituents of Minnesota's Seventh Congressional District! Please do not hesitate to get in touch if there is anything I can do to help. Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,
