"I truly wish I could afford to give more, but I just can't."
Over the years, we've received countless notes like this, often
handwritten and tucked inside an envelope with a check for small
amounts: $27, $12, or just $3.50. And lately, with corporations jacking
up prices on everything from gas to groceries, we know a lot of you are
feeling the pinch even more. We get it. We feel it too.
But here's the key thing that we want our readers to understand: You
don't have to give a lot to make a big difference.
In fact, more than 90% of the donations we receive at Common Dreams are
less than $50. And 76% are $20 or less. A gift of $4 when that's all
someone can manage means the world to us. That's not a small
donation-that is generous beyond belief.
So while we know many of you wish you could give more, believe us when
we tell you: No donation is too small. Our model of people-powered
journalism works because everyone donates what they can . . . and if you
really can't, that's ok. We understand.
But if you can afford $1 or $17 or $100 or whatever it might be, please
give what you can to help keep Common Dreams strong. We can't survive
without you-and we survive because of all of you.
