Today is the 10-year anniversary of superstorm Sandy that devastated not only CT, but the entire tri-state area. As Darien’s First Selectman for over a decade, through hurricanes, floods and a global pandemic, not once did Himes reach out to see how we were doing.

*New Funding Grant Highlights Campaign Season*
*Trickery and the Lack of Progress for CT*

*FAIRFIELD, CT* - Yesterday, U.S. Congressman Himes announced grant funding for a non-profit program in Bridgeport. While the program itself is laudable, the timing of the grant, a mere ten days before the General Election is suspect and belies the limited results achieved for CT in his last 14 years in Congress. *It’s time for change!*

*Statement from Jayme Stevenson on the lack of federal funds returning to CT:*

“It is clear that the State of CT is dead last in federal funds coming back to CT. For every dollar sent to D.C., CT receives only $0.95 back to our state. This helps to explain why CT still has not recovered all the jobs it lost during the great recession.  In 2022, we are facing runaway inflation while salaries in CT have not kept up and another looming recession.

Jayme Stevenson on the Importance of Public Safety Support ( [link removed] )

“CT residents have real concerns that are not being addressed. My hands-on experience as a local, regional and state leader makes me uniquely qualified to address our most pressing public policy issues facing CT. As your next Congresswoman, I pledge to work every day for ALL municipalities in the district. This requires collaboration with state and local leaders and strategic planning to create new opportunities and enterprise to turn around CT’s economy, rather than a focus on campaign trickery and enticements during the final few weeks of the election season to buy votes.

*“Today is the 10-year anniversary of superstorm Sandy that devastated not only CT, but the entire tri-state area. As Darien’s First Selectman for over a decade, through hurricanes, floods and a global pandemic, not once did Himes reach out to see how we were doing.*

*"Where was Jim? CT did not receive FEMA disaster recovery resources and reimbursements on a timely basis.* In addition, federal funding secured by Himes to harden our shoreline communities has not been spent to make the necessary improvements which would protect our communities from future severe weather events. Sadly, these earmarked funds are now set to expire. The opportunity cost of these unused funding resources is enormous and highlights the lack of required follow through and collaboration from Rep. Himes’ office.

*“CT can no longer afford to have feckless leadership that squanders precious federal funding resources needed to protect our towns and cities from severe weather events.* It is time to send a new leader to Congress that will not only secure funds needed for our 17 municipalities in the fourth district, but will also collaborate to ensure that funds procured are put to use and capital projects are completed.

*“It is time to expect more from your leader in Congress.* I will serve the residents of CT, not party leaders in DC. On November 8, I hope to have earned your vote and will champion a brighter future for all in Connecticut.”

*ABOUT JAYME*
I’m running for Congress to bring common sense and balance back to Washington and to give voice to the people of the 4th Congressional District who have been left behind by politicians working for themselves and a national party agenda.  As a trusted leader and mother of five children, I understand the impacts government policies have on our communities and promise to fight for Connecticut children, families and businesses.
