Today on National Immigrants Day, and every day, Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota celebrates immigrant Americans who are our friends, neighbors, and community members.

Immigrants are also essential. Without immigrant Americans, there is no essential workforce in the United States. Immigrant Americans take care of the country as health care and childcare workers, they feed the country working in farming and food systems, they build our country in construction and manufacturing work - and much more.

This summer, we had the honor of joining a few of our clients taking the oath of U.S. citizenship along with 900 others. One of our clients taking the oath was Ariana, a long-time client of ILCM.

With her ILCM attorney, Ariana applied for asylum and special immigrant juvenile status and was eventually given asylum. Seven years later she is finally a U.S. citizen! Ariana is looking forward to going to college and becoming a CNA.
