Hey John — In just a moment, I’m going to ask you to pitch in ahead of our final end-of-month deadline of this election. [[link removed]?] But first, I hope you will give me a chance to explain why this request is so important, especially right now.

After we won our last election by just over 5,000 votes, we knew this race would be close. But this week, polling experts hinted that it’ll be even closer than we thought.

As you may have heard from my team, our race was just downgraded from “Leans Democrat” to a “Toss-Up,” meaning that polling experts believe the outcome of our race could go either way.

I’ll be honest, John, this isn’t the kind of news we wanted to hear so close to Election Day. A rankings change like this will give Republicans and their mega-donors the green light to launch even more misleading attacks on my record and throw plenty of cash behind my extreme opponent.

Now, I’m not sharing this to scare you or make you feel discouraged about our chances. I have no doubt in my mind that this team is strong enough to overcome whatever comes our way and win a tough race — we’ve done it before! — but we can’t let up in the last few days of this election.

Right now, our campaign is working around the clock to knock on doors, keep our ads up and running, and get our message out in front of voters across the district. And we’re counting on grassroots supporters just like you to keep us firing on all cylinders in the homestretch.
