This week, we released new data for 140 countries and jurisdictions in the 2022 WJP Rule of Law Index.

Although some pandemic pressures have eased, global challenges include continued civil justice backlogs, discrimination, and the persistant rise of authoritarianism.

Respect for fundamental rights declined in two-thirds of countries this year. Checks on government powers—such as oversight by the judiciary, legislature and media—are eroding in the majority of countries.

Our experts and on-the-ground rule of law defenders discussed troubling trends and bright spots to watch during our global launch livestream.

Missed it?  No worries, you can watch it here.
