Team, if you’ve been paying attention to the news in the last week, you’ve seen a series of alarming headlines about the growing threats to our democracy — all coming from the extreme MAGA faction of the Republican Party.
But despite our best efforts, there are still too many people — voters in key battleground states — who don’t yet know the stakes of these midterm elections.
So today, I wanted to take a minute to share details of some of the work we’re doing to defeat Trump’s cabal of election-denying secretary of state candidates in Nevada and Arizona — and to make two (yes, two!) asks of you.
Like so many other veterans, protecting this country is a responsibility that I’ve continued to take seriously long after my active duty ended. We’ve partnered with the National Security Leaders for America — a group of folks who’ve served in senior leadership positions in our military — to fight in key midterm races around the country. Together, we’re making sure voters know exactly why we must defeat Trump’s anti-democratic allies in November — through op-eds, radio ads, direct outreach, and so much more.
Here’s one powerful message we’re sharing with voters in Arizona as they fill out their ballots:
“We have a clear and present danger to our democracy right here in Arizona… As a veteran, as someone who spent my entire adult life protecting America, I beg you to take seriously this national security threat.”
— Michael G. Mathis, Rear Admiral, USN (ret)
Admiral Mathis is exactly right — and thanks to your support, our work together is helping bring attention to the very real threats to our democracy posed by Trump’s QAnon-backed candidates.
Now for the two asks:
1. If you’re able, rush a donation to The American SOS Project right now so we can keep putting these strong messages in front of voters.
2. Forward this email to three friends or family members in your circle (especially folks in Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, or Minnesota) and make sure they know how crucial this election is for the future of our democracy.
The outcome of these races could very well depend on people like you and me taking action right now — whether that’s having conversations with our friends and neighbors, chipping in to fund this work, or getting out to vote ourselves.
Thanks for showing up every day. I’m honored to be in this fight with you.
