“Thought They Could Mean-Tweet Putin Out of Invading Ukraine”

The title is a (not-always-perfect) memory quotation of Rep Mike Gallagher from his weekly conversation with the host this morning.  Rep. Gallagher was making reference to the Biden administration’s foreign policy generally and specifically its response to legitimate military threats.

Bridging Divides

Five Thirty-Eight is running a series of articles on what they call “Invisible Divides.”  The latest installment is on Christian political influence and is absolutely infuriating.  Infuriating because it is a blend of statistics and anecdote, rendered in a such a fashion as to make a point even when the data is pointing in a different direction – or at least ambivalent.  It is tempting to dissect the piece and illustrate its procedural flaws, but 1) that’s boring and 2) Five Thirty-Eight has become masterful at doing precisely this kind of piece.  You either see through it, or you don’t.

Of Fetterman and the Debate

For the record, I did not watch the Oz/Fetterman debate last night, but I have seen enough highlights (lowlights actually) to be grateful I did not.  I went to bed contemplating writing a piece about “workers controlling the means of production” or some such nonsense as the only thing the debate made absolutely clear was that John Fetterman is impaired, needs help and much recovery time. It became abundantly obvious, as I said before, that his campaign is a lie and that he is being operated like some sort of puppet.
