When I made the decision to run for Congress, I knew I'd have to confront political attacks -- especially running against someone like Young Kim. But the truth is, I never expected this:
Young Kim is sending out messages to voters containing some disgusting and absolutely false smears against me. The false claim is that I "side with sexual abusers" over their victims.
As a doctor and father, it's sickening to see a sitting Congresswoman stoop so low to malign a political opponent, but I'm not holding my breath for Kim to retract this complete lie. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if she doubles down.
Remember, it was Young Kim who in June smeared her
Republican opponent -- a local councilmember and combat veteran -- in order to win the June primary. She barely held on, but her attacks were so vile that it fractured her party. Now, many local Republicans are opting to sit out of the General Election, and many others are voting for me!
I have thick skin, John. If anything, this is a reminder that this campaign is much bigger than just winning a House seat. This is about decency, and putting an end to the politics as usual that's rotting our democratic system. That's why I'm running, and it's why I need your support:
