I’m coming to you directly to ask you to chip in all that you’re comfortable with to reelect Governor Tim Walz. But first, let me explain why we need your help to keep Minnesota in DFL hands:

Minnesota’s governors race is one of the most closely watched races in the nation. Governor Walz’s Republican opponent is an extremist who would make it harder to vote, has peddled the Big Lie and other conspiracy theories, and has threatened to imprison his political opponent.

But Governor Walz’s chances to win were downgraded three straight times by election analysts, Republicans have spent more than $1 million against him, and a recent poll shows this race statistically tied. Last period, Governor Walz was outraised by his dangerous opponent and we have to help ensure that he isn’t outraised again.

As the former Attorney General for Barack Obama, I’ve spent my career defending our democracy in and out of the courtroom.

That’s why I’m asking you to give $5 or more to help reelect Governor Walz and Lt. Governor Flanagan. This race is close and with Republican money flowing in, we need all the support we can get to mount a strong defense of their pro-democracy record.

After the January 6 insurrection, Republican lawmakers across the country introduced more than 400 bills to gut voting rights, including here in Minnesota.

Governor Walz’s Republican opponent, Scott Jensen, repeatedly refused to admit that Joe Biden “definitely won” the 2020 election. His Lt. Governor opponent, Matt Birk, has already floated that Democrats will cheat in this upcoming election, echoing more conspiracy theories that undermine our democracy.

But the most concerning thing: If Scott Jensen and Matt Birk win, they will be in a position to do everything in their power to roll back voting rights and spread lies that crush our democratic institutions.

We need to keep Governor Walz and Lt. Governor Flanagan fighting for Minnesotans’ right to vote and our democracy. Chip in $5 or more to help them hit their end of month goal before Monday’s deadline. They’ve already been outraised once and we can’t afford for them to be outraised again.
