A packed schedule in San Diego

Dear Friend,

When I’m home in San Diego, I love being busy. So it’s been great to have a packed schedule, visiting every corner of the 53rd District and meeting with so many constituents, from students to service members to San Diego sports fans! Here are some of the recent highlights:

Naval Base Point Loma

I visited Naval Base Point Loma to get an update from base leadership about their programs and needs. I’m continuing to fight every day to ensure that our service members and military families have the support they need so they can keep focused on their mission.

Barrio Logan College Institute

It was so fun to spend time with the amazing 4th graders of the Barrio Logan College Institute! This program provides underrepresented and underserved students from Barrio Logan, El Cajon, and Chula Vista the support they need to go to college and thrive.

Union of Pan Asian Communities

Addiction touches every community, including ours. That’s why I’m so grateful for the Union of Pan Asian Communities’ work supporting and encouraging those on their journeys to recovery. I was so glad to visit their Adult Alcohol and Drug Treatment and Recovery Program, which helps provide counseling, therapy, and assistance with housing, transportation, income, and other basics to get folks back on track.

San Diego State University Cultural Center Tours

It was so great visiting SDSU and touring some of their amazing student resource centers. It’s so important to have spaces for students to get the support needed to thrive on campus and in the world after graduation – and I loved meeting so many of the campus’s incredible young leaders and hearing more about what’s important to them.

IGNITE at San Diego State University

I loved joining the young women leaders of IGNITE at San Diego State University to talk about my bill, the My Body, My Data Act, which will create a new national standard to protect reproductive and sexual health data. I know that our future is in good hands, because there are so many young women ready to step up and fight for our rights.

The Knauss School of Business at the University of San Diego

It was great to tour the University of San Diego’s Knauss School of Business! Their new state-of-the-art facility is incredible and will be where so many students learn, grow, and develop their groundbreaking ideas.

San Diego Blood Bank

I really enjoyed touring the San Diego Blood Bank and learning more about their innovative programs, like the Join All Of Us research and precision blood program. They’re making San Diego proud as they lead the way in the future of precision medicine.
