As a public defender, judge and Chief Justice of North Carolina, I led with a commitment to integrity and justice and I saw firsthand how the laws handed down from Washington failed our families.
There is a crisis of justice in Washington. When I look at the extremism, corruption and gridlock, I know that we deserve better.
Republican politicians like Ted Budd want to ban abortion without exceptions. They threatened our democracy on January 6 by voting to overturn the 2020 election, and they vote to help corporate interests and the billionaires who fund their campaigns. But I refuse to let them win.
I didn’t spend my life defending the Constitution and fighting for justice to watch politicians and a politicized, extremist Supreme Court take away our fundamental rights. I think it’s time to end the filibuster to defend abortion rights and protect the right to vote — if you agree, will you donate?

I don’t believe corporate special interests should be allowed to rip off consumers to line their pockets. We are facing a global climate crisis and people are dying because they cannot afford the cost of prescription drugs while Big Oil and Big Pharma rake in record profits. That is not just, and our leaders should not be afraid to shake up such a broken status quo — will you donate if you agree?

The pursuit of justice should not be a partisan issue. We should all want lower costs, protections for our Constitutional rights, and a livable planet and bright future for our children. It’s time we elect more Senators who will put politics aside and focus on delivering justice and real change for people.
