Governor Laura Kelly Announces Administration Appointments
TOPEKA – Governor Laura Kelly today announced appointments to the following state commission, council, and board.
Fire Service Training Commission Purpose: Provide for a traveling instruction service to train firefighters in the jurisdictions of this state requesting such instruction.
- Dan Romine, Osage City
- Justin Ducey, Leawood (reappointment)
- Dr. Jomella Thompson, Lawrence
Kansas Commission on Disability Concerns Purpose: KCDC is a catalyst for change in government for all people with disabilities.
- Robert Cantin, Olathe (reappointment)
Kansas African American Affairs Commission Purpose: To devise strategies to address the public policy concerns of the African American community through its partnerships with the state agencies, corporations and foundations. The Commission will serve as a conduit for programs, grants, research, and policy advice for state and local organizations in addressing concerns that are unique to the African American Community in the state of Kansas.

State Library of Kansas Board Purpose: To advocate for statewide library services and resources, encouraging cooperation among libraries and promoting and encouraging innovative library services.
Solid Waste Grants Advisory Committee Purpose: To review competitive grant applications and establish project priority lists for each fiscal year based upon the availability of funds.

Kansas Board of Examiners in Fitting and Dispensing of Hearing Instruments Purpose: To regulate the licensing of examiners and market of hearing aids.
Kansas Volunteer Commission Purpose: Prepares a national service plan for the state; ensures outreach to diverse community-based agencies; administration of certain grant programs.

Kansas State Board of Cosmetology Purpose: Regulates the profession of cosmetology and its educational institutions. The purpose of this regulation is to protect the health and safety of the general public as well as that of the licensees.
