Friends -
I know there are people out there who don't believe in our movement. They say it's because I'm an immigrant. Because I'm gay. Because I'm an educator that cares about working-class families.
Those naysayers have been counting us and our grassroots movement out from the beginning. Because what they don't know is that I have you by my side.
I know that when we come together, anything is possible. Even sending the first LGBTQ+ Immigrant to Congress.
But this election is not about the color of your skin, your sexuality, or even your immigration status. It's about who we are fighting for — working class Californian families.
My mom brought me to this country and never lost an ounce of American patriotism, despite the adversity we faced. My mom, a nurse, taught me the importance of serving our community, as she did before she passed away from COVID-19. She led a life of service, and I hope to do the same.
As Mayor, I've fought for Long beach long and hard, leading us in COVID-19 relief efforts, and working on legislation for workers' rights and climate change relief.
But now, we’re just days away from the midterm elections, when we will have the opportunity to bring the same change we brought to Long Beach to Congress. And I'm counting on support from this grassroots team to win.
We CAN have affordable health care, reproductive freedom, and climate security. But only if working people finally have a voice of their own in Congress, and I hope to be that voice.
That's why I'm humbly asking you to contribute today to help me get there. So what do you say?
Thanks in advance for your support today. It means so much to have you with me on this journey.
Onwards,
Robert
